RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which adults, teens and children prepare for full initiation into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, and/or Confirmation, and/or First Eucharist. This journey of deepening faith involves prayer, scripture study, education, integration into the community of the faithful, and participation in the liturgical and moral life of the Church.
The RCIA serves those who have not been baptized, or have been baptized in another Christian tradition, who desire to become Catholic. The RCIA is also for baptized Catholics who have not received the sacraments of Confirmation and/or First Eucharist. Finally, any Catholic who wishes to deepen his/her understanding of and commitment to the faith is invited to participate in the RCIA classes.
There are specific requirements for children, teens and adults in the RCIA program at Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
Children (ages 8-11)
All children’s requirements include attendance by parent(s) or guardian(s). In addition, parent(s) or guardian(s) must attend Adult RCIA Education Sessions (see Adults below).
Teens (ages 12-17)
Adults (18+)
